Women in Research Council to host Dr. Donna Kotsopoulos from Western University for Fireside Chat series - March 5

The 色多多 Women in Research Council (WIRC) will welcome  as its next speaker for the Fireside Chat series.

  • When: Tuesday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to noon
  • Where: Dixon/Alger Fireside Reading Room, North Oshawa Campus Library

The Fireside Chat series invites women from across academia to share their stories about their trajectories, challenges, triumphs, and lessons learned as women in academia. Dr. Karla Dhungana Sainju, WIRC Chair and Associate Professor, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, will moderate the talk. Audience members will be invited to engage in a Q&A following the talk. The event is open to all faculty, staff and students. 

Dr. Kotsopoulos is the Dean and a Professor at the Faculty of Education at Western University. She is cross-appointed to Western’s DAN Department of Management Studies and Organizational Studies. She is also the President of Senior Women Academic Administrators of Canada, an organization devoted to the mentorship, advocacy, and advancement of and for women leaders in post-secondary institutions. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher. Her research explores organizational change in higher education, strategic resource allocation, leadership, and university governance. She has been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and various other agencies. Her service, research and teaching have been recognized with several awards, including:

  • John and Gail MacNaughton Prize for Excellence in Teaching (2020)
  • Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations teaching award (2014)
  • Fields Institute Fellow (2017) through the esteemed Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences. 

She serves on the Board of the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences and as the SSHRC Leader for Western University.
